William A. Baird, Esq., is the managing attorney of the Baird Law Firm, APC. Before starting the Baird Law Firm in 2019, Mr. Baird worked in some of the most successful Plaintiffs’ firms in California. Mr. Baird has extensive experience in handling wildfire cases. The firm and his co-counsel currently represented over two hundred properties (including homeowners, renters, and various businesses) that were damaged in either the Thomas or Woolsey Fire. Mr. Baird has also been involved in Bobcat and Dixie fires. These cases have recovered tens of millions of dollars in settlements.
In addition to fire litigation, Mr. Baird has extensive experience litigating consumer class actions, employment litigation, mass actions (fire litigation and medical products), insurance actions, and catastrophic injury cases. Mr. Baird a lead counsel, co-lead counsel, or as counsel, has represented thousands of employees, insureds, consumers, and the injured in such cases throughout California as well as the country. During this time, he has helped to obtained tens of millions of dollars in compensatory relief on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Baird has lectured on the topics of fire litigation, insurance bad faith, and consumer class actions. He has also contributed to practice handbooks dealing with insurance claims and class actions. He has been involved in trials in State Court and Federal Court as well as arbitrations. In addition to his other trials, he was a member of the legal team that obtained the largest verdict of its type in a case where a child was blinded as a result of improper neonatal care.
Mr. Baird is admitted to practice in California State Courts and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California. He is a member of The Consumer Attorneys of California as well as The Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles.
Mr. Baird obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, graduating cum laude, where he was a staff writer for the Pepperdine Law Review and the recipient of the Dean’s, President’s, and Howard A. White Scholarships. He graduated from Pepperdine University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. During college, he studied abroad spending one year in Heidelberg, Germany and two summers in the jungles of Honduras working with a medical project that provided free medical care to the indigent. Mr. Baird was born in Arkansas, grew up in Oklahoma, and moved to Malibu where he completed high school at Santa Monica High.
Mr. Baird serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law teaching a course in Employment Law. He also enjoys volunteering as a coach and referee for AYSO Soccer where his children have played soccer and coaching his son in baseball. Mr. Baird served for several years on the board for Thousand Oaks little league and currently serves on the Board for his homeowners’ association.

a. Big Lots Overtime Cases, San Bernardino County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of Store Managers and Assistant Managers for overtime that resulted in a $10,000,000 settlement);
b. Brady, et al. v. Deloitte & Touche LLP (U.S.D.C., Northern District of California, certified class under FRCP Rule 23 of unlicensed Audit Associates and Senior Associates in California);
c. Casas v. Victoria Secret, C.D. Cal. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a California class of Sales associates that resulted in a $12,000,000 settlement);
d. Daum v. Claim Jumper Restaurants, Orange County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a California Class of Assistant Kitchen Managers that resulted in a $6.5 million dollar settlement);
e. Don Tran, et al. v. Protiviti Corp. et al, Los Angeles County Superior Court (seven figure settlement on behalf of a class of unlicensed consultants engaged in the provision of auditing services)
f. Estrada, et al. v. Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up (Los Angeles Superior Court; $10 million settlement);
g. Fitzpatrick v. Baja Fresh, (Los Angeles Superior Court; seven figure settlement);
h. Justin Lefevre, v. Pacific Bell Directory, N.D. Cal. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a state and a national class of Telephone Sales Representatives that resulted in a $3,630,000 settlement);
i. Kress v. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, E.D. Cal. (Conditional certification of a nationwide collective action under the Fair Labor Standards Act of unlicensed Associates in Audit, Tax, and Advisory lines of service and Certified Rule 23 California Class on behalf of Senior Associates in the Audit Line. The entire action was eventually resolved in two different class settlements);
j. Mathein v. Pier 1, E.D. Cal. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a California class of Sales associates that resulted in a $3,500,000 Settlement);
k. Moore v. IKEA, Los Angeles County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of Store Managers for overtime that resulted in a seven figure settlement);
l. Moreno v. Miller Brewing, Los Angeles County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a California Class of Sales Representatives that resulted in a $1.35 million settlement);
m. Kimbell v. Abercrombie & Fitch Stores, Inc., Los Angeles County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of a California Class of Store Managers for overtime that resulted in a more than $2 million dollar recovery);
n. Ochoa v. Haralambos, Los Angeles County Superior Ct. (A wage and hour class action on behalf of Sales Representatives in California seeking overtime compensation that resulted in a seven-figure recovery).

a. In Re: TikTok, Inc. Consumer Privacy Litigation, (U.S.D.C. Northern District Of Illinois). (Nationwide settlement on behalf of users misuse of private information);
b. Erin Calderon, et al., v. Cargill, Inc., D.C. Hawaii. (Significant settlement on behalf of numerous consumers for misleading advertising);
c. In Re: TJX Retail Security Breach Litigation, MDL No. 1838. (MDL proceeding relating to the theft of approximately 45,000,000 credit and debit card numbers used at TJX stores and the personal information of over 454,000 TJX customers. The action eventually resulted in a settlement that provided benefits valued at over $200 million);
d. Richard Pedroza v. El Dorado Inn, Orange County Superior Court. (Seven Figure Settlement on behalf of several thousand residents of two long term residential inns based on the Landlords’ eviction practices every 28 days that prevented residents from gaining residency rights).
Personal Injury Cases
*** Seven figure settlement on behalf of nine families whose mentally handicapped children were abused in various ways including sexually at a daycare facility.
*** Policy limits settlement on behalf of multiple families whose children were severely injured when Defendant driver entered the freeway going the wrong direction. The settlement included the driver and relevant public entity.
